Iron Blight Known Issues: Safe Fixes and Bug Reports
Fix Iron Blight known issues with safe, version-aware checks for blocked doors, missing objectives, backpack upgrades, saves, controls, and bug reports.

If Iron Blight will not advance, do not overwrite your last working save or start a new run first. Update Steam to Patch 1.04, make a separate copy of the situation by using a new save slot if the game allows it, then check the current objective, carried key item, and map before retrying the interaction. The steps below help you separate a missed route requirement from a version-specific fault without promising that every report has one universal fix.
Start by confirming the build and the exact blocker
Patch 1.04 is the newest official announcement checked for this guide, published on September 2, 2026. It added Save & Quit, map pins for the Workshop Key and Blowtorch, and fixes for several Prasnova, factory, docks, and enemy-state problems. If your game is on an older offline build, an old video or a current guide can appear to disagree with what is on your screen.
Before changing anything, write down the area name, the objective text, the door or machine in front of you, and every named item in your inventory. “Stuck in Prasnova” is difficult to diagnose; “Workshop gate after making the Punch Card, carrying the completed card” is useful. A screenshot of the map and inventory is even better because it records the state without changing it.
Protect a workable save before troubleshooting
Use Save & Quit or a separate save slot before testing a door, puzzle machine, pickup, or sequence that might advance the story. Do not repeatedly overwrite the only save from before the interaction, especially around the Workshop, Police Station, boat repair, or a large inventory pickup. A clean pre-interaction save lets you retry after an update or provide a reproducible report instead of losing the route entirely.
A door, route, or objective will not progress
Read the active objective and compare it with the name of the item you are carrying. Iron Blight uses specific physical tools: a Bolt Cutter, key, Punch Card, Blowtorch, or repair part is not a general-use item for every nearby barrier. If the prompt does not match the object in your inventory, return to the walkthrough, key-item route, or the relevant location guide before treating the door as bugged.
On Patch 1.04, the Workshop Key and Blowtorch have official map objective pins. Re-open the map and confirm that the pin is not hidden by fog of war or confused with an older recording that predates the feature. If the objective pin and your route still conflict, preserve the save, note whether you used a key item already, and avoid dropping a named tool merely to create inventory space.
Workshop, Punch Card, and Blowtorch troubleshooting
For the Workshop route, confirm the sequence rather than trying every interact key on every object: obtain the Workshop Alley Key, reach the brick office, read the Override Protocol, use the green Punch Card machine, collect the completed card, pass its matching reader, and then continue toward the Blowtorch. The Workshop guide and Punch Card solution keep those steps separate so you can check the next action without reading the entire campaign route. Patch 1.01 fixed a first-attempt Punch Card failure, while Patch 1.04 later added a Blowtorch map pin.
If the Punch Card machine seems to finish but no card appears in your inventory, check whether a second interaction is required before abandoning the room. If the correct card is already carried but the next reader does nothing, reload only a save from before that machine after confirming that Steam has updated. Do not claim that a reload is a guaranteed repair: record the prompt, item name, and exact build if the same state returns.
Backpack pickup does not add space
Patch 1.03 changed backpack pickup behavior so players can only pick up backpacks that provide an upgrade. That confirms the intended duplicate-pickup protection, but it does not prove the cause of every report where inventory capacity looks wrong. Check the number and shape of usable grid cells before and after a new backpack upgrade; a rearranged item layout can look like lost space when it is actually a placement issue. The Backpack Upgrades guide gives the two route landmarks and a controlled way to compare the grid.
Boat repair, elevators, and save-load problems
The launch hotfix and Patch 1.02 addressed boat activation, boat state, map-objective loading, and possible progression blockers around Prasnova boat repair. That means an old save created before an update can be relevant when a repair step, elevator, or objective behaves strangely. The boat repair guide lists the complete item chain and the late-objective check; deleting the save is not the right first response, because preserving it gives the developer something actionable.
Health, Quick Heal, controls, and controller support
Patch 1.03 fixed a Quick Heal failure that could leave the weapon lowered and adjusted the effects of low health and sickness. If your weapon remains unusable after a failed heal, retreat if possible, record whether the heal had an item available, and avoid testing the same sequence in a hostile room. A report should identify the healing item, equipped weapon, map area, and whether the issue persisted after a clean restart.
For keyboard bindings, update first: Patch 1.02 and Patch 1.03 both addressed loading problems, with some items labelled as possible fixes rather than guarantees. Rebind one control, return to the game, then restart and test that one binding; changing the whole layout at once makes a later report much less useful. Keep a default-layout screenshot before experimenting, especially if the interaction key is needed for the next route step.
Steam currently marks Iron Blight as Steam Deck Playable, not Verified. A developer reply from August 25 said full Xbox-controller support was not yet available, although basic play outside menus should work and full support was planned. Treat that reply as dated support context: use the live Steam Deck notice for current compatibility caveats, and report your device, controller layout, SteamOS version, and menu or gameplay action that fails.
What counts as a current known issue
For the same reason, a community claim is not enough to state that a hidden achievement, an MP5 location, or a route condition is broken. The achievement guide keeps Recorded and Red Express separate from unverified solutions, while the weapons guide identifies the MP5 as confirmed but location-pending. Do not turn an unresolved data gap into a location claim just to fill a page. A good player guide earns trust by saying what the current evidence supports and by giving you the next safe check.
Make a report the developer can reproduce
Use the official Steam technical-issues thread after you have preserved the save. Include your installed build, language, PC specifications, current area, objective text, item inventory, last interaction, and a short sequence of steps that produces the problem. Attach screenshots or a short capture where possible, but do not upload personal account details, purchase information, or unrelated files.
The most useful report separates facts from guesses. Say “the Blowtorch pin is absent on my Patch 1.04 Prasnova map after the Workshop Alley Key” rather than “the route is impossible,” and explain what you already checked. That gives other players a usable starting point and gives the developer a better chance to identify whether the fault is a save state, configuration, or game defect.
Verification and scope
This page was checked on September 13, 2026 against official Steam announcements through Patch 1.04 and the developer’s public controller reply. It is a player-first troubleshooting guide, not an official support promise and not a replacement for a reproducible bug report. Recheck the patch notes after each update, because a later build can change both the route behavior and the safest advice.
