Iron Blight Boat Repair: Key Items, Final Route, and Fixes
Repair the Iron Blight boat with the Boat Key, Blowtorch, Pump Gauge, Drive Belt, and Jerry Can, then recover safely from a stalled late-game objective.
On this page+
To repair the Iron Blight boat, keep the Boat Key and Blowtorch, collect the Pump Gauge, Drive Belt, and Jerry Can, then finish the late-Prasnova objective before returning to the boat. Do not make the return trip as soon as you find one part: the route only advances when the current objective recognizes the complete chain. Make a protected save before the final interaction, because boat activation and related progression were the subject of launch fixes.
Boat repair checklist
The late route has two separate jobs: gain access to the boat path, then collect the repair and fuel items needed for the story interaction. The Boat Key comes from the Police Station sequence, while the Pump Gauge, Drive Belt, and Jerry Can arrive later in the Prasnova route. Keep the Blowtorch as well, even if its earlier use appears complete; route evidence places it with the final transport interaction.
| Before you return | What to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Police Station | Boat Key is in your carried inventory. | It opens the late route but does not replace repair parts. |
| Workshop route | Blowtorch has not been discarded. | It remains part of the final interaction chain. |
| Late Prasnova | Pump Gauge, Drive Belt, and Jerry Can are collected. | Returning early creates avoidable backtracking. |
| Objective state | The late objective has advanced. | The boat prompt can remain unavailable before this hand-off. |
1. Reach the Boat Key through the Police Station
Do not search the boat area first. Finish the Workshop chain, enter the Police Station basement, and solve the camera-panel route that opens the cells. The Police Station route gives the approach, while the dedicated camera puzzle solution gives the current known switch setting without making you scan the whole campaign.
After the panel accepts the solution, collect the Boat Key from the opened cell and verify its name in the inventory before leaving. The key is a route gate, not a repair item, so it does not make the boat usable by itself. If the cell does not open or the key is absent, preserve the save from before the panel and use known-issues troubleshooting rather than repeatedly overwriting the same state.
2. Carry the complete repair and fuel set
The repair chain is Pump Gauge → Drive Belt → Jerry Can after the Boat Key portion of the route. A complete route records the gauge first, followed shortly by the belt and fuel can, but a blind run will reach them at a different clock time. Use the key-item checklist to confirm the order and the Prasnova route when you need the surrounding district progression.
Treat every named component as mandatory until the game clearly consumes it or changes the objective. A Drive Belt is not interchangeable with the Pump Gauge, and the Jerry Can is not simply optional fuel you can leave behind to make room for ammunition. If your inventory is tight, store an unused gun or incompatible ammunition before considering a route tool.
3. Do not discard the Blowtorch
The Blowtorch is collected immediately after the Workshop Punch Card sequence, well before the late repair parts. It is easy to mistake it for a one-door tool because the map adds a pin for it in Patch 1.04, but the late transport interaction can still depend on carrying it. Keep the item through the Police Station and repair route unless the game visibly removes it after the correct story prompt.
If you never collected the Blowtorch, return through the Workshop guide before committing to the final route. Follow the current map pin and the key-item order instead of relying on a launch-week timestamp, because Patch 1.04 added that navigation aid after early recordings were published. Leave at least two flexible grid spaces before the Workshop sequence so the card, Blowtorch, and later parts do not force you to drop a required item.
4. Wait for the late objective to change
The boat is not the next valid interaction at every point after you find its key. Continue the late control-room and story objectives until the dialogue or objective text confirms that the required boat items are present, then follow the updated map direction back to the transport. This prevents a common wasted trip in which the boat is visible but has no useful prompt because the preceding hand-off has not occurred.
Do not experiment with unrelated cells, levers, or doors as a shortcut to force the objective forward. The campaign uses specific story interactions, and a wrong branch can make it harder to describe what happened if you need help. When in doubt, compare the current objective text with the full walkthrough and make a save before opening the next late-game room.
5. Prepare your inventory for the return trip
Before going back to the boat, carry the Boat Key, Blowtorch, Pump Gauge, Drive Belt, and Jerry Can, plus one prepared weapon, compatible ammunition, and a compact healing option. This is not a recommendation to fill the backpack completely; leave at least one usable tool-sized space so a route pickup or interaction output does not become a new inventory problem. The Backpack Upgrades guide explains why the Large Backpack is especially valuable before this stretch.
Avoid carrying every late gun and attachment just because you are near the ending. A collection detour is safer when it has a saved checkpoint and a clear return path, but the repair route should take priority over an optional mod. Install a compatible attachment if that safely removes a loose item, and store any weapon whose magazines you are not using.
6. The boat is visible but will not activate
First check the exact objective, then confirm that the Boat Key, Blowtorch, Pump Gauge, Drive Belt, and Jerry Can are carried rather than left in storage. Next, make sure the late control-room objective completed; an inactive boat can be a missing story hand-off rather than a missing component. Do not delete the save or start over while you still have a pre-interaction checkpoint.
Update Steam before retrying. The launch hotfix addressed a boat that could not be activated and one that disappeared after a story event, while Patch 1.02 listed a possible fix for a Prasnova boat-repair progression blocker. Those announcements show why build context matters, but they do not guarantee that a current save created during an older state will repair itself.
If the same current-build state returns, capture the map, objective text, inventory, and boat prompt. Record your installed version, language, the last interaction before the problem, and whether you loaded a save after collecting each part. Send that information to the official technical-issues thread and keep the save available; it is more useful than a report that only says the boat is broken.
7. Confirm the route has advanced
When the repair interaction succeeds, follow the new story direction instead of treating the boat as a free-exploration hub. The late transport sequence leads toward the return and ending path, where Prasnova No More and End Of The Line are the relevant campaign achievements. A delayed Steam popup is less useful than the in-game objective and completed story transition for deciding whether your save actually advanced.
Verification and source limits
This page combines official patch history with a completed-route reference checked through Patch 1.04 on September 13, 2026. The developer confirms that boat and progression issues received launch support, while the exact late-route order comes from route evidence rather than a developer-authored walkthrough. If a room layout, prompt, or item dependency differs in your current build, report the version-specific difference instead of treating an older route capture as permanent fact.
