Patch 1.04 added “Save & Quit” to Iron Blight's menu. Use it to leave a stable session, but still preserve a recovery save before a puzzle, machinery interaction, locked route gate, or major area transition. The option improves session control; it does not turn an irreversible interaction into a safe experiment.

What Save & Quit changes

The official Patch 1.04 note confirms the new menu entry, together with a separate Quit option. It does not publish a detailed technical description of every save-state edge case. For that reason, this wiki does not claim that Save & Quit fixes all progression problems or replaces normal caution around a puzzle or scripted event.

If you have just completed a long pickup chain, confirm the item is in your inventory and the objective has updated before ending the session. Then use Save & Quit from a calm location rather than immediately during a changing scene.

If a reload changes a door, puzzle, or objective

  1. Confirm that Steam has installed Patch 1.04.
  2. Reload the pre-interaction save rather than continuing from a suspicious state.
  3. Re-read the active objective and carry the exact named tool or key.
  4. Use the matching route page: Workshop, Police Station, Prasnova, or St. Toma.
  5. Note the map area, objective text, and version if the issue repeats.

Patch 1.03 says puzzle-object positions and rotations are no longer saved, while earlier patches moved or added specific save triggers. Treat an older walkthrough's save-state workaround as version-specific, not as a universal rule.

Challenge runs and saves

Before beginning Hardcore, Ironman, or Cassette Tape Mode, read difficulty and modes and the achievement guide. The official notes confirm achievement-award fixes and changes to Hardcore's Sickness default, but they do not provide a full public specification for every mode's save rules. Do not assume a normal-mode save strategy applies unchanged to a challenge modifier.

Verification note

The Save & Quit feature and route-fix context were checked in official Steam announcements on September 6, 2026. This page gives conservative recovery practice where the developer has not published an exact technical save specification.
