To complete St. Toma Dormitory, enter with the OTs-48K and TT-33, collect the Lead Pipe and TOZ-34, secure the Medium Backpack, then obtain the Hammer, TT-33 Laser Sight, Bolt Cutter, gate key, and Car Battery. The Car Battery closes the area's main progression chain and leads into Prasnova. Prioritize tools and the backpack over carrying all three early firearms.

The Dormitory begins around 3:56 in the verified 2:39:51 full route and gives way to the Prasnova District around 48:55. A first blind run will take longer because the building's floors, locked corridors, enemies, and physical inventory create backtracking that an optimized video avoids.

St. Toma route at a glance

17:51Find Hammer and TT-33 Laser Sight
28:57Obtain Bolt Cutter
43:15Collect gate key

Use this as a recovery checklist. If your last pickup is the Hammer, for example, the next major tool in the verified route is the Bolt Cutter, not the Car Battery. The table prevents you from searching a late objective room before the required access tool has been collected.

Before entering the Dormitory

The opening Dimitrov Residence provides the OTs-48K at about 1:23 and TT-33 at about 1:46. Check both weapons, choose the one you can support with current ammunition, and avoid filling the initial grid with duplicate supplies. The Dormitory soon offers another long gun and several large tools.

Create a separate save before the area transition. Patch 1.01 repositioned problematic save triggers, and Patch 1.02 fixed loading behavior for some doors. Keeping an entry save gives you a clean fallback without replaying the entire opening.

Find the Lead Pipe

The Lead Pipe is the first labeled weapon pickup inside St. Toma, reached at roughly 9:01 on the reference route. Use it to conserve ammunition only when a controlled melee encounter is safer than firing or running. A hit that costs medicine can be more expensive than the bullet it was meant to save.

Keep a path back to a cleared room and avoid fighting two enemies in a narrow threshold. The pipe is optional compared with the route tools ahead, so store it later if it prevents the Bolt Cutter or Battery from fitting.

Get the TOZ-34

The TOZ-34 follows at around 9:17. Its close-range shotgun role is well suited to Dormitory corridors, but its manual handling and limited ready shots punish a reload begun too late. Verify the weapon before opening the next unknown room.

Decide whether the shotgun replaces the OTs-48K as your main long gun. Carrying both plus the TT-33 before the backpack upgrade leaves little flexible space. Ammunition availability should settle the choice.

Find the Medium Backpack

The Medium Backpack is reached at about 16:43 and is the highest-priority optional-looking pickup in the first location. It expands the grid before the Hammer, attachment, Bolt Cutter, key, and Car Battery sequence. Collect or equip it before continuing deeper into the building.

Repack in the pickup area while it is safe. Move long rectangular items to an edge, group compatible magazines together, and leave a usable region for tools. Scattered single cells do not help when the next item has a larger shape.

Hammer and TT-33 Laser Sight

The Hammer and TT-33 Laser Sight share the route marker at about 17:51. The Hammer supports optional access and environmental interactions, while the sight upgrades the early pistol. Install the sight immediately by opening the TT-33 interface and clicking its green attachment dot.

Installing the part frees a loose inventory space. If the attachment point is gray, confirm that the sight is in your carried grid and belongs to the TT-33. The developer specifically clarified that attachments install through green dots, not by repeatedly pressing the world interaction key.

Obtain the Bolt Cutter

The Bolt Cutter is found around 28:57, well after the backpack and Hammer. Use it on the clearly chained or cuttable barrier associated with the route; it does not replace the Hammer for every physical obstruction. Keep it carried until the building's locked chain has been opened.

If a corridor door near the Hammer is stuck, do not assume the Bolt Cutter belongs there. Patch 1.01 listed that corridor door as a known issue, while Patch 1.02 later fixed additional door-loading behavior. Update and reload before sacrificing a save to repeated interaction attempts.

Reach the Dormitory key

The next labeled Key appears around 43:15. Its generic name makes context important: it belongs to the late Dormitory access chain leading toward the Car Battery, not to every locked room in the building. Compare the current objective, door position, and map marker.

Keep the key even after opening one gate until the route advances. Chapter-start behavior can omit selected Chapter 1 items, so a continuous run is more reliable for optional backtracking than jumping directly into Chapter 2.

Retrieve the Car Battery

The Car Battery is collected around 45:26 and is the final major Dormitory tool on the verified route. Make enough space before entering its room; a battery competes poorly with three guns and surplus ammunition. Store the least supported weapon rather than leaving the objective item.

Carry the Battery to the powered vehicle or mechanism indicated by the current objective. Once it is accepted and the transition opens, the route reaches the Prasnova District at about 48:55. The Prasnova guide begins from that point.

Dormitory map and navigation problems

Patch 1.01 fixed an upside-down exterior Dormitory map, so launch screenshots can be misleading. Patch 1.02 fixed zombie navigation near the police car and an issue where open doors did not load correctly after a save. If your current map or door state disagrees with a guide, verify that the game is on the latest Steam build.

Use objective text and distinctive rooms alongside the map. A rotated or stale image can send you to the correct room by the wrong corridor, wasting health and ammunition. Re-open the map after a major tool is used so cleared objectives do not hide the next sector.

Enemy and resource strategy

St. Toma teaches the cost of gunfire in an enclosed location. Clear only the enemies that control a repeated route, and leave space to retreat through a door or stairwell. Check magazines before crossing between floors, because manual reloads are far safer in a room you already secured.

Use the Lead Pipe selectively and save shotgun shells for close threats that block progress. The objective is reaching tools and the Battery, not making every corridor permanently empty. Downed enemies can also be deceptive, and launch patches adjusted cases where killed zombies appeared to stand again.

If the Dormitory will not progress

Restart Steam, install the newest update, and load a save made before the failed door or objective. Check that the Hammer, Bolt Cutter, key, or Battery is carried rather than stored. If an open door reloads as closed or a map marker is absent, use Steam's Verify integrity of game files option.

Patch history shows that genuine blockers existed, so repeated failure is not always user error. When reporting a problem, include the current objective, exact door or map sector, game version, and whether the save was created before or after a patch.

Verified route

Pickup order and timestamps were checked against the supplied complete all-weapons recording on August 31, 2026. Bug notes were checked against official Patches 1.01 and 1.02. Continue to Prasnova, or open the inventory guide before deciding which Dormitory weapons to carry forward.
